I jumped to conclusions and said, “I am cut off from your presence!” But you heard my plea for mercy when I cried out to you for help. — Ps 31:22 NET
I sink into the deep mire where there is no solid ground; I am in deep water, and the current overpowers me.—“’The waters closed over my head; I thought I was about to die.’ I have called on your name, O Lord, from the deepest pit. You heard my plea: ’Do not close your ears to my cry for relief!’ You came near on the day I called to you; you said, ’Do not fear!’”
I asked, “Will the Lord reject me forever? Will he never again show me his favor? Has his loyal love disappeared forever? Has his promise failed forever? Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has his anger stifled his compassion?” Then I said, "I am sickened by the thought that the sovereign One might become inactive. I will remember the works of the Lord. Yes, I will remember the amazing things you did long ago!—Where would I be if I did not believe I would experience the Lord’s favor in the land of the living?
Ps 69:2, Lam 3:54-57, Ps 77:7-11, Ps 27:13
“When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him.” — Ps 91:15 NET
Jabez called out to the God of Israel, “If only you would greatly bless me and expand my territory! May your hand be with me! Keep me from harm so I might not endure pain!” God answered his prayer.—“Tell me what I should give you.” Solomon replied to God, “… Give me wisdom and discernment so I can effectively lead this nation.”—God gave Solomon wisdom and very great discernment; the breadth of his understanding was as infinite as the sand on the seashore.
Asa prayed to the Lord his God: “O Lord, there is no one but you who can help the weak when they are vastly outnumbered … O Lord our God, don’t let men prevail against you!” The Lord struck down the Cushites before Asa.
You hear prayers; all people approach you.
