Morning

Your name is like the finest perfume. — Song 1:3 NET

Christ … loved us and gave himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God.—So you who believe see his value.—As a result God exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow.—For in him all the fullness of deity lives in bodily form.

“If you love me, you will obey my commandments.”—The love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.—Now the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfumed oil.—They were amazed and recognized these men had been with Jesus.

O Lord, our Lord, how magnificent is your reputation throughout the earth! You reveal your majesty in the heavens above!—Emmanuel … God with us.—He … is called: Extraordinary Strategist, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.—The name of the Lord is like a strong tower; the righteous person runs to it and is set safely on high.

Evening

For we groan while we are in this tent, since we are weighed down. — 2 Cor 5:4 NET

O Lord, you understand my heart’s desire; my groaning is not hidden from you. … For my sins overwhelm me; like a heavy load, they are too much for me to bear.—Wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers together until now. Not only this, but we ourselves also, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we eagerly await our adoption, the redemption of our bodies.—Although you may have to suffer for a short time in various trials.

Since I know that my tabernacle will soon be removed, because our Lord Jesus Christ revealed this to me.—For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. Now when this perishable puts on the imperishable, and this mortal puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will happen, “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
