“A disciple is not greater than his teacher.” — Matt 10:24 NET
“You call me ’Teacher’ and ’Lord,’ and do so correctly, for that is what I am.”
“It is enough for the disciple to become like his teacher, and the slave like his master.”—“If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they obeyed my word, they will obey yours too.”—“I have given them your word, and the world has hated them, because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world.”
Think of him who endured such opposition against himself by sinners, so that you may not grow weary in your souls and give up. You have not yet resisted to the point of bloodshed in your struggle against sin.
Run with endurance the race set out for us, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set out for him he endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.—Since Christ suffered in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same attitude.

Give me your heart, my son. — Prov 23:26 NET
“If only it would really be their desire to fear me and obey all my commandments in the future, so that it may go well with them and their descendants forever.”
“Your heart is not right before God!”—The outlook of the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to the law of God, nor is it able to do so. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
They gave themselves first to the Lord.—He wholeheartedly and successfully reinstituted service in God’s temple and obedience to the law, in order to follow his God.
Guard your heart with all vigilance, for from it are the sources of life…. Whatever you are doing, work at it with enthusiasm, as to the Lord.—As slaves of Christ doing the will of God from the heart. Obey with enthusiasm, as though serving the Lord and not people.
I run along the path of your commands, for you enable me to do so.
