Morning

A slave of Christ Jesus. — Rom 1:1 NET

“You call me ’Teacher’ and ’Lord,’ and do so correctly, for that is what I am.”—“If anyone wants to serve me, he must follow me, and where I am, my servant will be too. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.”—“Take my yoke on you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and my load is not hard to carry.”

But these assets I have come to regard as liabilities because of Christ.—But now, freed from sin and enslaved to God, you have your benefit leading to sanctification, and the end is eternal life.

“I no longer call you slaves, because the slave does not understand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because I have revealed to you everything I heard from my Father.”—You are no longer a slave but a son.

Stand firm, then, and do not be subject again to the yoke of slavery. For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity to indulge your flesh.

Evening

I will praise the Lord who guides me. — Ps 16:7 NET

He shoulders responsibility and is called: Extraordinary Strategist.—Counsel and sound wisdom belong to me; I possess understanding and might.—Your word is a lamp to walk by, and a light to illumine my path.—Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight.

Lord, we know that people do not control their own destiny. It is not in their power to determine what will happen to them.—You will hear a word spoken behind you, saying, “This is the correct way, walk in it,” whether you are heading to the right or the left.—Commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will be established.—“But he knows the pathway that I take.”—The steps of a person are ordained by the Lord – so how can anyone understand his own way?

You guide me by your wise advice, and then you will lead me to a position of honor.—For God, our God, is our defender forever! He guides us!
