And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. — Eph 4:30 NET

The love of the Spirit.—“The Advocate, the Holy Spirit.”—Through all that they suffered, he suffered too. The messenger sent from his very presence delivered them. In his love and mercy he protected them; he lifted them up and carried them throughout ancient times. But they rebelled and offended his holy Spirit, so he turned into an enemy and fought against them.

By this we know that we reside in God and he in us: in that he has given us of his Spirit.—When you believed in Christ – you were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit, who is the down payment of our inheritance, until the redemption of God’s own possession.—But I say, live by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh. For the flesh has desires that are opposed to the Spirit, and the Spirit has desires that are opposed to the flesh, for these are in opposition to each other, so that you cannot do what you want.

The Spirit helps us in our weakness.

I will return again to my lair until they have suffered their punishment. Then they will seek me. — Hos 5:15 NET

Your sinful acts have alienated you from your God; your sins have caused him to reject you.—My lover had already turned and gone away … I looked for him but did not find him; I called him but he did not answer me.—“I attacked them and angrily rejected them, yet they remained disobedient and stubborn. I have seen their behavior, but I will heal them.”—“You have brought all this on yourself, Israel, by deserting the Lord your God when he was leading you along the right path.”

“So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still a long way from home his father saw him, and his heart went out to him; he ran and hugged his son and kissed him.”—I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger will turn away from them.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous, forgiving us our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness.
