Morning

Bearing fruit in every good deed, growing in the knowledge of God. — Col 1:10 NET

Therefore I exhort you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice – alive, holy, and pleasing to God – which is your reasonable service. Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God – what is good and well-pleasing and perfect.—For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.—Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything; the only thing that matters is a new creation! And all who will behave in accordance with this rule, peace and mercy be on them.

“My Father is honored by this, that you bear much fruit and show that you are my disciples.”—“I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that remains, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.”

Evening

I longed for him but he never appeared. — Song 3:1 NET

Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God, for your sin has been your downfall! Return to the Lord and repent! Say to him: “Completely forgive our iniquity; accept our penitential prayer.”

Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,”… But each one is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desires…. Do not be led astray, my dear brothers and sisters. All generous giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or the slightest hint of change.

Rely on the Lord! Be strong and confident! Rely on the Lord!—It is good to wait patiently for deliverance from the Lord.—“Won’t God give justice to his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he delay long to help them?”

For God alone I patiently wait; he is the one who delivers me…. Patiently wait for God alone, my soul! For he is the one who gives me confidence.
