Praying in the Holy Spirit. — Jude 1:20 NET
“God is spirit, and the people who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”—We… have access in one Spirit to the Father.
“My Father, if possible, let this cup pass from me! Yet not what I will, but what you will.”
The Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how we should pray, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes on behalf of the saints according to God’s will.—This is the confidence that we have before him: that whenever we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.—“When he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.”
With every prayer and petition, pray at all times in the Spirit, and to this end be alert, with all perseverance and requests for all the saints.

“There is hope for a tree: If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail.” — Job 14:7 NET
A crushed reed he will not break.—He restores my strength.
For sadness as intended by God produces a repentance that leads to salvation, leaving no regret, but worldly sadness brings about death.—Now all discipline seems painful at the time, not joyful. But later it produces the fruit of peace and righteousness for those trained by it.
Before I was afflicted I used to stray off, but now I keep your instructions.—“Everything that has happened to us has come about because of our wicked actions and our great guilt. Even so, our God, you have exercised restraint toward our iniquities and have given us a remnant such as this.”
My enemies, do not gloat over me! Though I have fallen, I will get up. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light…. He will lead me out into the light; I will experience firsthand his deliverance.
