Morning

“The one who listens to me will live in security, and will be at ease from the dread of harm.” — Prov 1:33 NET

O Lord, you have been our protector through all generations!—The one who lives in the shelter of the sovereign One, and resides in the protective shadow of the mighty king.—His faithfulness is like a shield or a protective wall.

Your life is hidden with Christ in God.—For anyone who touches you touches the pupil of his eye.—“Do not fear! Stand firm and see the salvation of the Lord… The Lord will fight for you, and you can be still.”—God is our strong refuge; he is truly our helper in times of trouble. For this reason we do not fear.

Jesus spoke to them: “Have courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”—“Why are you frightened, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet; it’s me! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones like you see I have.”—I know the one in whom my faith is set and I am convinced that he is able to protect what has been entrusted to me until that day.

Evening

“My kingdom is not from this world.” — John 18:36 NET

But when this priest had offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, he sat down at the right hand of God, where he is now waiting until his enemies are made a footstool for his feet.—“From now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.”—He must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.

Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!—He raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms far above every rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And God put all things under Christ’s feet, and he gave him to the church as head over all things. Now the church is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.—Whose appearing the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, will reveal at the right time.
