“You are a God of forgiveness, merciful and compassionate.” — Neh 9:17 NET

The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some regard slowness, but is being patient toward you, because he does not wish for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.—And regard the patience of our Lord as salvation.

But here is why I was treated with mercy: so that in me as the worst, Christ Jesus could demonstrate his utmost patience, as an example for those who are going to believe in him for eternal life.—Everything that was written in former times was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and through encouragement of the scriptures we may have hope.

Or do you have contempt for the wealth of his kindness, forbearance, and patience, and yet do not know that God’s kindness leads you to repentance?—“Tear your hearts, not just your garments!” Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to anger and boundless in loyal love – often relenting from calamitous punishment.

The Lord’s words are absolutely reliable. — Ps 12:6 NET

Your word is absolutely pure, and your servant loves it!—The Lord’s precepts are fair and make one joyful. The Lord’s commands are pure and give insight for life.—Every word of God is purified; he is like a shield for those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words, lest he reprove you, and prove you to be a liar.

In my heart I store up your words, so I might not sin against you…. I will meditate on your precepts and focus on your behavior.—Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things.—And yearn like newborn infants for pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up to salvation.

For we are not like so many others, hucksters who peddle the word of God for profit, but we are speaking in Christ before God as persons of sincerity, as persons sent from God.—We have rejected shameful hidden deeds, not behaving with deceptiveness or distorting the word of God.
