Morning

Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. — Rom 12:2 NET

“You must not follow a crowd in doing evil things.”

Do you not know that friendship with the world means hostility toward God? So whoever decides to be the world’s friend makes himself God’s enemy.—What partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship does light have with darkness? And what agreement does Christ have with Beliar? Or what does a believer share in common with an unbeliever? And what mutual agreement does the temple of God have with idols?—Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. And the world is passing away with all its desires, but the person who does the will of God remains forever.

In which you formerly lived according to this world’s present path, according to the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the ruler of the spirit that is now energizing the sons of disobedience.—But you did not learn about Christ like this, if indeed you heard about him,… as the truth is in Jesus.

Evening

Men then go out to do their work, and labor away until evening. — Ps 104:23 NET

“By the sweat of your brow you will eat food until you return to the ground.”—We used to give you this command: “If anyone is not willing to work, neither should he eat.”—Aspire to lead a quiet life, to attend to your own business, and to work with your hands.

Whatever you find to do with your hands, do it with all your might, because there is neither work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the grave, the place where you will eventually go.—“Night is coming when no one can work.”

So we must not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not give up.—Always be outstanding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Consequently a Sabbath rest remains for the people of God.—“To us who bore the hardship and burning heat of the day.”—“This is where security can be found. Provide security for the one who is exhausted! This is where rest can be found.”
