Morning

The Lord evaluates the motives. — Prov 21:2 NET

The Lord guards the way of the godly, but the way of the wicked ends in destruction.—“The Lord will make known who are his, and who is holy.”—“Your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.”

Examine me, and probe my thoughts! Test me, and know my concerns! See if there is any idolatrous tendency in me, and lead me in the reliable ancient path!—There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear.—O Lord, you understand my heart’s desire; my groaning is not hidden from you.—Even when my strength leaves me, you watch my footsteps.—He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes on behalf of the saints according to God’s will.

God’s solid foundation remains standing, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from evil.”

Evening

One may experience sorrow during the night, but joy arrives in the morning. — Ps 30:5 NET

So that no one would be shaken by these afflictions. For you yourselves know that we are destined for this. For in fact when we were with you, we were telling you in advance that we would suffer affliction.—“In me you… have peace. In the world you have trouble and suffering, but take courage – I have conquered the world.”

When I awake you will reveal yourself to me.—The night has advanced toward dawn; the day is near.—[He] is like the light of morning when the sun comes up, a morning in which there are no clouds. He is like the brightness after rain that produces grass from the earth.

He will swallow up death permanently. The sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from every face.—“Death will not exist any more – or mourning, or crying, or pain, for the former things have ceased to exist.”—We who are alive, who are left, will be suddenly caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
