From Fetters Free

He executes justice for the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets the prisoners free, — Ps 146:7 BSB

He has done it before. Remember Joseph, Israel in Egypt, Manasseh, Jeremiah, Peter, and many others. He can still do it. With a word, He breaks the bars of brass and with a look, He snaps the fetters of iron. He is doing it even now. In countless places, those in trouble are being brought into the light and freedom. Jesus continues to proclaim the opening of the prison to those who are bound. At this moment, doors are swinging open and chains are falling to the ground.

He delights in setting you free, dear friend, especially if you are grieving because of sorrow, doubt, or fear. It brings Jesus joy to give you liberty. It will please Him just as much to free you as it will please you to be freed. No, you don’t have to break the iron chains yourself; the Lord will do it for you. Trust in Him, and He will be your Emancipator. Believe in Him, no matter the stone walls or iron shackles that seem to hold you. Satan cannot keep you bound, sin cannot chain you, and even despair cannot imprison you if you place your faith in the Lord Jesus, in the freeness of His grace, and in the fullness of His power to save.

Defy the enemy and let the word before you be your song of deliverance: “Jehovah looseth the prisoners.”
