“He prunes every branch that bears fruit.” — John 15:2 NET
“For he will be like a refiner’s fire, like a launderer’s soap. He will act like a refiner and purifier of silver and will cleanse the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then they will offer the Lord a proper offering.”
Not only this, but we also rejoice in sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance, character, and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.—Endure your suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is there that a father does not discipline? But if you do not experience discipline, something all sons have shared in, then you are illegitimate and are not sons. Now all discipline seems painful at the time, not joyful. But later it produces the fruit of peace and righteousness for those trained by it. Therefore, strengthen your listless hands and your weak knees.

“Now we consider the arrogant to be happy.” — Mal 3:15 NET
For this is what the high and exalted one says, the one who rules forever, whose name is holy: “I dwell in an exalted and holy place, but also with the discouraged and humiliated, in order to cheer up the humiliated and to encourage the discouraged.”
It is better to be lowly in spirit with the afflicted than to share the spoils with the proud.—“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them.”
There are six things that the Lord hates, even seven things that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, … .—The Lord abhors every arrogant person.
Examine me, and probe my thoughts! Test me, and know my concerns! See if there is any idolatrous tendency in me, and lead me in the reliable ancient path!
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ! I thank my God every time I remember you.—“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”
