Morning

We have come to know and to believe the love that God has in us. — 1 John 4:16 NET

But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us, even though we were dead in transgressions, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you are saved! – and he raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, to demonstrate in the coming ages the surpassing wealth of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

“For this is the way God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”—He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, freely give us all things?—The Lord is good to all, and has compassion on all he has made.

We love because he loved us first.

“Blessed is she who believed that what was spoken to her by the Lord would be fulfilled.”

Evening

Do not be haughty but associate with the lowly. — Rom 12:16 NET

My brothers and sisters, do not show prejudice if you possess faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ…. Did not God choose the poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he promised to those who love him?

Do not seek your own good, but the good of the other person.—But if we have food and shelter, we will be satisfied with that. Those who long to be rich, however, stumble into temptation and a trap and many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

But God chose what the world thinks foolish to shame the wise, and God chose what the world thinks weak to shame the strong. God chose what is low and despised in the world, what is regarded as nothing, to set aside what is regarded as something, so that no one can boast in his presence.

O Lord, my heart is not proud, nor do I have a haughty look.
