Morning

Be conscientious about how you live. — 1 Tim 4:16 NET

Each competitor must exercise self-control in everything. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one. So I do not run uncertainly or box like one who hits only air. Instead I subdue my body and make it my slave, so that after preaching to others I myself will not be disqualified.—Clothe yourselves with the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.

Now those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also behave in accordance with the Spirit.—For all who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.—Take pains with these things; be absorbed in them, so that everyone will see your progress.

Evening

Jesus said to her, “Mary.” — John 20:16 NET

“Don’t be afraid, for I will protect you. I call you by name, you are mine.”—“The doorkeeper opens the door for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.The sheep follow him because they recognize his voice.”

“Look, I have inscribed your name on my palms; your walls are constantly before me.”

However, God’s solid foundation remains standing, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his.”—We have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God.

“You are to take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel. And Aaron will bear their names before the Lord on his two shoulders for a memorial. You are to make a breastpiece for use in making decisions. You are to set in it a setting for stones, four rows of stones. The stones are to be for the names of the sons of Israel … and they are to be over Aaron’s heart when he goes in before the Lord.”
