Today’s Quote

Humility is the strength and ornament of every other grace, and the proper soil wherein they grow.

— John Newton

Spurgeon’s Daily Help

Success is certain when the Lord has promised it. Although you may have pleaded month after month without evidence of answer, it is not possible that the Lord should be deaf when his people are earnest in a matter which concerns his glory. Delayed answers often set the heart searching itself, and so

lead to contrition and spiritual reformation?

Reader, do not fall into the sin of unbelief, but continue in prayer and watching. Plead the precious blood with unceasing importunity, and it shall be with you according to your desire.

The Spurgeon Birthday Book

November 27

A retiring disposition is a small virtue in a soldier of Christ. The soldier who retired in the day of battle was shot for a coward. Never be retiring when duty or danger summon you to the front. It is ill to have the face of a lion and the heart of a

deer. Disreputable things are sometimes disguised in words polite; so diffidence may be dastardly, and caution may be cowardly. Be you very valiant for the Lord of hosts.
